# Exodus 12:1-14 Christian Identity: Saved by the Lamb's Blood, Become the LORD's Army!

## God is the Agent of Salvation
Exodus is not simply a historical account of the Israelites' escape from Egypt. The core of this book is clearly revealed in Exodus 7:5: "And the Egyptians will know that I am the LORD when I stretch out my hand against Egypt and bring the Israelites out of it." The agent of salvation is not Moses, nor the Israelites, but God alone. Through the ten plagues sent upon Egypt, God revealed that all Egyptian gods were mere illusions.

## Passover: The Way to Pass Over Death
The meaning of Passover is literally "to pass over." What passes over? God's judgment and plague. The Bible clearly states: "Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment" (Hebrews 9:27). All humans cannot escape these two destinies: death and judgment. However, Passover shows us that there is a way to escape from this desperate reality.

## The Lamb's Blood: Jesus Christ's Precious Blood
The Old Testament lamb prefigures Jesus Christ in the New Testament. Just as the Passover lamb had to be a one-year-old male without defect, Jesus, being sinless, died on the cross to bear our sins. "I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life" (John 5:24). For those who believe in Jesus' blood, eternal life comes, and God's judgment passes over them.

## New Calendar, New Beginning
God commanded the Israelites: "This month is to be for you the first month, the first month of your year" (Exodus 12:2). This wasn't simply changing a calendar, but signified a new starting point where God's salvation history begins. The day you accepted Jesus is when your life's new calendar began. In a life where God is present, meaningless days gain new significance. This is the power of salvation.

## Faith That Shows
On Passover night, the bright red blood applied to the doorframes of Israelite houses would have been visible to anyone. If bright red blood was on houses made of mud, it would inevitably draw attention. Similarly, those who have received the grace of Jesus Christ's blood are meant to be visible. Believing in Jesus is not about quietly hiding your faith. When life enters, it shows, and that life force is meant to be displayed outwardly.

## Participatory Worship
It was not the priests but the Israelite congregation who slaughtered the Passover lamb. This shows that worship is not passive attendance but active participation. When the worship leader leads praise, we must sing with our own lips, and when hearing God's word, we should respond with "Amen." God is a personal God who requires our faith response. He doesn't force salvation but gives us the choice.

## The LORD's Army: New Identity
During the Exodus, the Israelites numbered 600,000 men alone, totaling over 2 million people who left Egypt. The Bible calls them "all the LORD's divisions" (Exodus 12:41). They were no longer slaves but had become the LORD's army. This is where the identity of saved Christians lies. We are no longer slaves to sin or beings dragged along by the world. We are the LORD's army. No matter what the world says against us, we should be able to boldly declare, "I am the LORD's army!"

## Application and Decision: Concrete Practices for Living the Exodus Life
Salvation is accomplished by God's grace, but our faith response is necessary. This week, to live as the LORD's army, try starting each morning by declaring, "I am the LORD's army." Participate actively in worship, examine any idols you may value more than God, and boldly display your faith. Regard Sunday as the beginning of a new week and live a victorious life worthy of the LORD's army. Living the Exodus life as the LORD's army—this is the true identity of a Christian. May you live victoriously as the LORD's army this week as well, in the name of the Lord.
