Exodus 3:5-12 Only When We Take Off Our Shoes Does the Almighty God Work!

Names That God Remembers
The original title of Exodus is "Names." God remembers the names of His saved people. This is precisely why the names of the Hebrew midwives Shiphrah and Puah are recorded in the Bible. They feared God more than the king of Egypt. When we fear God more than this world, God will surely remember our names. In contrast, the name of Pharaoh's daughter was not recorded. This is because those whom the Lord remembers are the Lord's saved people.

Moses in the Papyrus Basket
The papyrus basket that held Moses had no sail, no oars, and no rudder. It was a basket with absolutely no power that humans could control. However, this "tebah" (papyrus basket) was in God's hands. Using the same word as Noah's ark, it was God's instrument for salvation. When we, who are cast into the world, enter God's church, we receive salvation. However, that church must be the church the Lord desires, not a church moved by human hands.

Forty Years Spent in the Wilderness
Moses entered an unexpected path, the wilderness, with the name of murderer. This is precisely "Exodus" - departing from the path he had planned. The wilderness is a difficult and harsh place, but it is where we meet God. Because it is a place where I can do nothing on my own. Moses spent 40 years in Midian under the priest Reuel (friend of God). Though Moses didn't realize it, God was with him even during his wilderness life.

"Take Off Your Sandals"
When Moses turned 80, God met him on Mount Horeb. It was through the mysterious sight of a bush burning but not being consumed. God said "take the sandals off your feet" for two reasons. First, it was an expression of reverence for God's holiness, and second, it meant "do not do this your own way." Leading 2 million people out of Egypt is impossible by human strength. God's work is not accomplished because I do it well or work hard at it.

"I Will Surely Be With You"
When Moses asked, "Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh?" God's answer was surprising. He said nothing at all about who Moses was. Instead, He said, "I will surely be with you." God is the One who sees, hears, and knows. And He is the One who comes down directly to save and lead us out. What matters is not who I am, but the faith that the Creator God is with me.

Immanuel Jesus
In the New Testament, this promise was fulfilled through Immanuel Jesus. Jesus, whose name means "God is with us," is the fulfillment of the promise "I will be with you." Therefore, we are the protagonists of the words "I will be with you."

Application and Decision
Dear saints, what are you afraid of? The Lord speaks to us today as well: "I see you, hear you, and know you. Therefore, I will go down and save and deliver you." For those who believe in God, God will surely be with them. What matters is "taking off my shoes" and "laying down my methods." Only then is there space for God to work. When we lay down our methods before God and offer our bodies to the Lord, God will perform unimaginable works of salvation through us. Take off your shoes. And experience the amazing works that the Almighty God performs.

"Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.” (Exodus 3:5)
